Megan D. Hazel

Biography

Megan is Of Counsel for Freundlich & Littman, LLC, and has over twenty-five years of experience in defense litigation in the state and federal court systems. She focuses her practice on civil litigation.

In the past, Megan also practiced in the criminal sector, both as a prosecutor for the Office of the District Attorney in Montgomery County, PA, and as the owner of a solo criminal defense practice in Norristown, PA. She represented clients in both felony and misdemeanor cases in the five-county Philadelphia area, as well as in the Juvenile Court system, representing minors in delinquency cases.

Megan also served as court-appointed counsel in criminal cases and for parents in Dependency Court, helping them work toward family reunification in tandem with the Guardian Ad Litem of Montgomery County and the Office of Children and Youth. She is one of a select number of specially qualified attorneys designated to represent the interests of children as a Montgomery County Child Advocacy Program (MCAP) attorney in cases of neglect and abuse, and in criminal cases where a child is a witness.

She is a former vice-chair of the Child Advocacy Committee in Montgomery County and has served on the Board of Directors of Libertae Halfway House and Libertae Family House, nonprofit organizations in Bucks County, PA, that provide comprehensive treatment for drug and alcohol recovery—specifically for women with children. In 2024, she co-wrote bylaws that helped form the first Pennsylvania chapter of a national nonprofit organization called the Young Men’s Service League (YMSL), which is dedicated to volunteer community service work performed by moms and their teenage sons.

Megan is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the Middle District of Pennsylvania. She is admitted to practice in New York (inactive) and is barred in the State of New Jersey.
