Megan D. Hazel

Biography

Megan is Of Counsel with Freundlich & Littman, LLC. She has more than twenty-five years of experience in state and federal defense litigation. Her practice primarily focuses on civil litigation.

Previously, Megan practiced criminal law. She served as a prosecutor with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office. She also owned and operated a solo criminal defense practice in Norristown, Pennsylvania. During that time, she represented clients in felony and misdemeanor matters throughout the five-county Philadelphia region. Additionally, she handled cases in the Juvenile Court system, where she represented minors in delinquency proceedings.

In addition to private practice, Megan served as court-appointed counsel in criminal cases and in Dependency Court. In those matters, she represented parents working toward family reunification. She worked closely with the Guardian Ad Litem of Montgomery County and the Office of Children and Youth. Moreover, she is among a select group of attorneys qualified to represent children through the Montgomery County Child Advocacy Program. In this role, she handles neglect and abuse cases, as well as criminal matters involving child witnesses.

Beyond her legal practice, Megan is a former vice chair of the Montgomery County Child Advocacy Committee. She has also served on the Board of Directors of Libertae Halfway House and Libertae Family House in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. These nonprofit organizations provide substance abuse treatment and recovery services, with a focus on women with children. More recently, in 2024, Megan co-wrote the bylaws that helped establish the first Pennsylvania chapter of the Young Men’s Service League. This national nonprofit promotes community service among mothers and their teenage sons.

Finally, Megan is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania. She is also admitted to the Eastern District and Middle District of Pennsylvania. Additionally, she is admitted in New Jersey. Her New York admission is inactive.
