Freundlich & Littman, LLC obtains 1.5 million dollar insurance settlement.  Freundlich & Littman, LLC was able to obtain a settlement which totaled in excess of 1.5 million dollars from an insurance company who had refused to pay for any damage associated with a small retail company’s loss.   The company, a small retail store owner was forced to close its doors after water damage from a broken pipe completely destroyed its inventory.  The store’s insurance company took a strong position against its insured, forcing them to submit to multiple examinations under oath and requiring the client provided sophisticated detailed documentation which the client did not possesses.  Freundlich & Littman, LLC immediately took over the insurance claim, overseeing the submission of the document requests, and ensuring that the client’s interests were protected during the examination under oath.  After a review of the Insurance company’s conduct, it became clear that the Insurance company was attempting to strong-arm and bully the client into walking away with nothing.  Ultimately, through a well constructed and comprehensive Civil Action Complaint,  Freundlich & Littman was able to recover $1,500,000 for our client in a lump sum payment.

“We were greatly pleased with the result as the amount will allow our client to reopen their company and be properly compensated for the damages to their store”, said Austin Freundlich, partner and co-founder of Freundlich & Littman, LLC.  “A catastrophic loss for a small business can mean the end for a company, even if they have insurance. Our goal is to keep the insurance company honest during the claims process, and ensure that they pay out what businesses are entitled to under the terms of their insurance policies.”  When insurance companies have acted inappropriately, an insured may have the ability to bring a bad faith lawsuit an action where in addition to paying out the rightful amount owed, an insurance company can be found responsible to pay punitive damages, attorney’s fees and interest.
